I love music for how it magically embellishes everything around. Whenever you put your headphones on, life actually seems to become more colorful, vibrant and interesting. Especially when it corresponds with the mood of each time of the year.
I have made several posts with seasonal music recommendations, because usually I like to divide my playlist into different playlists that will fit properly with the weather and nature around. This time I decided to get a little more specific and talk about spooky songs that will be perfect for October.
October is my favorite month of the year, not only because autumn finally reveals itself in its true glory and colors, but also because of that one holiday that we celebrate in. You’ve guessed right, I’m talking about Halloween. It spreads its mysterious and spooky vibes throughout the month, making everything feel more magical and peculiar, especially on stormy days or those cold autumn nights, when you want to lit all the candles and get wrapped up in a soft blanket with a hot drink in your hands.
And what better way to savor the mystical atmosphere of this month than to add some spooky songs to your playlist. I have gathered some songs that in my opinion are perfect for this category. I love listening to these especially when doing journaling or making art, it really helps to tune in the spirit. Somehow they make me feel really cozy and at peace.
Some of them are from popular movies, so you are most probably familiar with them. You can listen to them whenever you want to feel a little Halloweeny, or save them for the big day, if you’re planning a big party or a cozy gathering. Now, as I’ve rambled on enough for this post, let’s complete it with the list. Enjoy!
p.s. some of these songs are also performed by other artists, so you can check out different versions of them and pick whichever you like the best.
- Panic! At the Disco – This is Halloween
- The Cramps – Goo Goo Muck
- Andrew Gold – Spooky Scary Sceletons
- Lana Del Rey – Season of the Witch
- Rockwell – Somebody’s Watching Me
- Bette Midler – I Put a Spell on You
- Bobby Picket – Monster Mash
- Ray Parker Jr. – Ghostbusters
- Michael Jackson – Thriller
- Talking Heads – Psycho Killer
- The Addams Family Theme Song

I used to enjoy Halloween but in the last decade it seems to have become more focused on serious evil and less just make-believe.😥

that’s true, holidays are changing along with everything. but I think we can still celebrate our favorite holidays the “old-fashioned” way, the way we liked it ✨
