Best Movies and TV Shows with Summer Atmosphere: Pt. 2

Time goes on, the world changes, I grow up, but one thing remains the same: my love for seasonal movies and books. I just love how they inspire and make me enjoy the certain period much more. Hence why I decided to make yet another movie reccomendation post.

You can check the first part summery movies out in HERE, as there are many cool films with the most incredible atmosphere that I love rewatching every now and then. Now I’ve collected some new movies and shows that I’d like to present to you.

  • Another Simple Favor (2025)

To be completely frank, I enjoyed the first part of this movie much better, as the case was more mysterious and interesting. But the sequel pleasantly surprised me, as I truly liked it as well. Two murders happen on a wedding trip to Capri, so the main character has to find out the murderer, as well as some new shocking information about her friend/rival. The beautiful Italian sceneries will definitely give you the best summer vibes.

  • Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)

A chill movie with the most beautiful summery atmosphere, a crime subplot and an unexpected twist in the end. It’s about a girl who lives all alone in the marshlands. She doesn’t communicate much with the people of the town, instead she’s found the perfect harmony with nature and has become an integral part of it. This movie is an adaptation of a self-titled novel and I really want to read it as well, though I doubt that the book will be able to convey the same energy.

  • My Old Ass (2024)

I’m sure pretty much everyone dreamed about meeting their young self and give some advice and warning to them, or to see their old self and find out about their future. That’s basically what happens in this film. The main character spends her last summer at home before moving to college, when she meets her older version, who helps her to become a better person and sort out her priorities right. This is a wholesome coming-of-age movie with a good message and fun summery adventures.

  • We Were Liars (2025)

I haven’t had a hyper-fixation on a TV show for a long while, but “We Were Liars” made me forget about everything else and constantly think about it, even long after finishing it. It’s about a rich family that spends every summer on their private island. The main character loves spending her holidays with her friends and cousins until a tragic accident happens which leaves her with no memories of what happened that night. Throughout the series she starts remembering stuff and placing the pieces of the puzzle together. The first few episodes might feel a little dull, but believe me, the more it goes, the more intense and interesting things get. The last episode will shock the crap out of you with the most unexpected plot twist and leave you heartbroken. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

  • My First Summer (2020)

I won’t say that the plot of this film is the best, but the sceneries were so lovely and atmospheric, that you want to forget about the storyline and just enjoy the surroundings. It’s about a girl who lives all alone deep in the woods. One day she meets another girl from the nearby town, and they slowly start bonding and growing together. It’s a sweet coming-of-age movie that you probably won’t regret watching.

  • Lilo and Stitch (2025)

Just another movie adaptation of old Disney animated films. I have mixed feelings about it, cause on the one hand it’s quite good and true to the original, and it felt really nostalgic, but on the other, I kept comparing it with the old version that once fell deeply into my heart. I was a huge fan of “Lilo and Stitch” as a child, so I think even if the adaptation was perfect, I’d still prefer the cartoon. Anyway, I’ll definitely recommend watching it, as it’s a very lovely story that takes place in the capital city of summer – Hawaii.

  • Glass Onion (2022)

If you love detective movies, you’ll definitely enjoy this one. It’s about a group of people that go to a private island and decide to play “murder mystery”. However, things change when one of the guests suddenly gets murdered. Luckily, the one and only Benoit Blanc was there to solve the case and find out the killer.

  • Tuck Everlasting (2002)

Somehow this list has many films about people that live hidden in nature away from the civilization. “Tuck Everlasting” is one of them, but in this case it’s about a family that drank from a fountain of youth a few centuries ago and became immortal. I promise, when you see their little cozy home and their slow lifestyle, you’d absolutely want to live like that, away from everything and everyone else, enjoying the blessings of nature, feeling young wild and free. At least that’s how I felt while watching this film.

  • The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022)

This is one of the best summery TV series ever – at least that’s how all the fans describe this show. Sure, it has all the perfect seasonal vibes, with the comfy beach house, the pool and summer activities and adventures. But I ditched this show after season 1, cause I found it quite boring. It’s mostly focused on a love triangle, as the main character can’t make up her mind about which one of the two brother she loves. For me the storyline is very mediocre and cliché, but you may still enjoy it, if you want to spend the hot afternoons, watching something romantic and aesthetically pleasing.

  • The Kings of Summer (2013)

Okay, I have to be honest and confess, that I didn’t like this film at all. It was too primitive and somehow weird but not in a good way. It’s about a group of teenagers who decide to run away from their parents homes and settle in a secret place in the woods (yes, again the same plot line). The only con of this film was the gorgeous nature and the feeling of freedom that summer gives us. But since it falls into the “requirements” of this article, I still decided to include it in the list.

  1. Several on here I haven’t seen, but I don’t like Lilo and Stitch; too weird a creature.
Tuck Everlasting on the other hand is phenomenal. Makes one think of what it would be like to live here on the fallen earth forever. Fortunately, Father has something much better planned.

We look “forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.” Hebrews 11:10😉

    • immortality is an interesting concept to ponder about! haha, I know what you mean about Stitch, but I loved him and I dreamed about finding my own little alien as a child 😂

      • thanks for this article, it was an interesting review. I know that many fans were disappointed with the ending, but to be honest I didn’t really mind this new version, cause it felt more realistic. the cartoon made everything seem so simple, a little sad but not really that tragic. only now watching the movie I realized for the first tome how messed up their life really was. Nani was obviously failing as a guardian of Lilo, and that’s understandable since she was also a child herself. I liked that in the movie they didn’t romanticize their complicated situation and gave them both a chance for a better life and future. Nani was studying so she could become a great specialist, while Lilo was living not with strangers, but with her close people, who were a part of her new ohana. They didn’t leave each other behind, merely part ways for a while, so they can be together again after a while. at least that’s how I interpreted the meaning behind it. plus, they had the magical portal tool which allowed them to see each other haha.
