Alas, we’ve reached the end of this fun and interesting (at least for me) project. I started posting the monthly bullet journal pages since last September, and I can’t believe that a year has already passed and I’ve done 12 posts.
Since my bujo themes are often alike, meaning that I’ll probably have some autumnal + dark academia vibes for september, halloween atmosphere for october and so on, I am not going to carry on this project, cause it’d a little boring to post similar type of themes, and instead of enjoying my art, I’d be focusing on doing sth different in order to post it later.
Back to August. Unlike July, I love this month, firstly because I know that summer is soon to be over, and you can already see some slight changes in weather and nature, notice the early signs of upcoming autumn. Also, pretty much all my fun holidays were in this month, so it gives me a lot to remember.
Another reason I love August, are sunflowers – the symbol of this month (and probably summer in general). They’re my second favorite flowers after lilacs, and they always make this time of the year more colorful and beautiful. That’s why my August bujo page is dedicated to these gorgeous flowers.

For the header I tried something a little different than my usual preferred style, this font kind of reminds me of graffiti writings, and I like how it turned out. Then I drew a couple of sunflowers in two corners of the header and added a couple of old photos of mine.

Since the middle and bottom parts of this page are already too colorful and “heavy”, I decided to ease it up a little by not adding any additional (tautological, I know) stickers, photos or any other clips to the top. Instead, I wrote a short quote with the letter stamps.

The next page is pretty basic: I’ve got a couple of sunflower stickers, a little doodle of the flower. And to keep the color balance, instead of a regular sheet for the blog post ideas part I added a yellow one. I love how everything turned out in general. I feel like I love those pages that have a specific theme or a color scheme and don’t have too many different tones in one place.
I remember many beautiful quotes about August, that perfectly describe this bittersweet season, giving the perfect goodbye and summary of summer. Hope with these artistic posts I managed to inspire at least someone, and that you enjoyed the “bullet journal” project at least half as much as I did. I truly loved doing it every month, and I’m sure going to miss it.
- “August rain: the best of the summer gone, and the new fall not yet born. The odd uneven time.” (Sylvia Plath)
- “This morning, the sun endures past dawn. I realise that it is August: the summer’s last stand.” (Sara Baume)
- “All in all, it was a never-to-be-forgotten summer — one of those summers which come seldom into any life, but leave a rich heritage of beautiful memories in their going — one of those summers which, in a fortunate combination of delightful weather, delightful friends and delightful doing, come as near to perfection as anything can come in this world.” (L.M. Montgomery)
- “The month of August had turned into a griddle where the days just lay there and sizzled.” (Sue Monk Kidd)
- “August was almost over. The first cool touch of autumn moved slowly through the town and there was a softening and the first gradual burning fever of color in every tree, a faint flush and coloring in the hills, and the color of lions in the wheat fields.” (Ray Bradbury)
- “The brilliant poppy flaunts her head
Amidst the ripening grain,
And adds her voice to sell the song
That August’s here again.” (Helen Winslow)

Have you thought about marketing your artwork? Father has gifted you with wonderful talent. Maybe others would be willing to pay you to produce prototypes for publication?

thanks a lot, I really appreciate your words! sadly I’m a little bit a perfectionist and think that my art is still on amateur level haha, so in order to sell it I’d have to practice it a lot

Not really. Your journal layouts are beautiful and would be wonderful if a publisher realized what they could do with them.

I need to find a good publisher then haha 😄

I love August very much, I was born in this month, and it is the most dear to me. It sums up what you have accomplished over the summer, and there is a certain sadness in it.
So it’s true that you are really saddened.
So it’s true, you are not happy here.
Seems in August it can never happen.
Something that only happens in spring?
