Hello March: BuJo Theme 🌿

After many months of cold and darkness, the spring is finally coming upon us, which means it is time for a new bullet journal blog post.

For me, March is the month of reawakening. It is full of romanticism, light academia and mysteries. Idk why, but I always loved watching or reading period and historical romances. They, especially the movies, always portrayed such picturesque sceneries that my soul longed for after months of winter “emptiness”. And that’s something I tried to portray in this layout.

Even though my March bullet journals always had pretty much the same style, I love this one the best. There are pages, that bring such a great feeling of peace and comfort to me every time I look at it. And March has become one of them.

The color scheme for this month is dusty green, kind if representing the weather outside – the upcoming thunderstorms, new grass and buds slowly coming out. Instead of many stickers I opted for a couple of little photos of an ancient palace, a scene from “Pride and Prejudice” movie (which was also the inspiration for this page), and a herbarium page. And since the statue of David has become an unofficial symbol for light/dark academia, I added him as well, to emphasize that atmosphere.

This year Easter falls on March 31, so, of course, I had to show that as well. Sadly, I didn’t have any suitable stickers that would go well with my theme, but I couldn’t resist and added the little cute chick to the very corner. He doesn’t fit the whole vibe, but I don’t really care. Also I tried to draw a few eggs, but they didn’t come out so good.

To finish the competition, I added a few fern stickers, and highlighted some parts with a green marker, so it all looks very harmonic.

Since March also marks the beginning of spring, some of the quotes for this month will refer to the new season as well.

  • “They captured in their ramble all the mysteries and magics of a March evening. Very still and mild it was, wrapped in a great, white, brooding silence — a silence which was yet threaded through with many little silvery sounds which you could hear if you hearkened as much with your soul as your ears.” (L.M. Montgomery)
  • “By March, the worst of the winter would be over. The snow would thaw, the rivers begin to run and the world would wake into itself again.” (Neil Gaiman)
  • “It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade.” (Charles Dickens)
  • “March came in that winter like the meekest and mildest of lambs, bringing days that were crisp and golden and tingling, each followed by a frosty pink twilight which gradually lost itself in an elfland of moonshine.” (L.M. Montgomery)
  • “It was a dark, early March afternoon, colder and grayer than usual, even though the crocuses and the tulips were pushing their way through the frozen ground, eager to usher in spring. Yet Old Man Winter refused to relinquish his grasp.” (Sarah Jio)

  1. Very beautiful March bullet journal page.

Appropriate that you had the page resting against a bust of Julius Caesar.

Who no doubt is thinking, “I knew I should have stayed in bed on the Ides of March.”.

  2. Beware the Ides of March. Lol. Of course there is St. Patrick’s Day. Spring? Not so much here in SoCal with another atmospheric river sweeping over the state. But the sun is moving north and getting higher in the sky and soon all the moss I have growing will shrink… But the sounds of birds flood the air. But in 18 more days, spring will be here. At least astronomically. Lol.

  3. Regarding Neil Gaiman’s quote, I remember a heavy snow of about 6” that fell on May 1st in RI when I lived there many years ago!‼️🥶

    • we also sometimes have snowy days in March,, it gets warm from February, but sometimes March surprises us with heavy snowstorms, that’s why in Armenia we call this month – crazy March, because you never know what to expect from it 😂
