Strolling Through the Christmas City 🏙️

What I love the most about Christmastime is its wondrous atmosphere which covers the whole world. There’s an air of magic all around, which makes you believe that everything is possible.

Of course, I understand that most of these decorations are purely for marketing and consumeristic purposes, because everyone just wants to attract customers in order to sell their product or service. But I try to look at it from a different perspective and just enjoy the fasciny atmosphere everyone creates, even by simply adding some twinkle lights to their windows or wreaths on doors.

Strolling through the decorated city is one of my favorite holiday activities, because you feel like you’re in a fairytale or a Hallmark movie. I think I like the decorations of cafes or shops more than the ones done by municipality, because you see different unique styles and colors, as everyone is trying to convey their own atmosphere, so there’s a lot of versatility.

Not to talk about the festive music, which makes everything even more enchanting. The shops play Christmas songs 24/7 and even something as simple as grocery shopping turns from a boring errand into an exciting activity.

I have gathered quite a lot of photos from Christmas city over the last couple of years, so I decided to dedicate a special post to show the magic that surrounds every single one of us. We just need to be a little attentive and see the beauty around. Enjoy!

  1. The Christmas holiday seems to have spread out beyond the month of December. It has become so commercialized that now, at least in the area I live, Christmas starts invading around the end of October! Halloween is barely over and Christmas sales and decorations start popping up. By the time Thanksgiving arrives, people and stores already have most of their Christmas decorations up. The day after Thanksgiving, radio stations start playing Christmas music. And of course now Christmas decorations and sales are all over the place the day after Thanksgiving. I say enough!!! By the time the first week of December is over, I’m done with all the Christmas crap. TV is showing Christmas themed commercials, movies and programs starting the day after Thanksgiving! To me, by the time Christmas arrives it has lost the “magic” the season was supposed to have. No I’m not “bah humbug” the time. I’m just over saturated with all the hype, that I’m zombie walking through Christmas instead of “Strolling through… ” Like your blog suggests. Now pour me another cup of eggnog and wake me up after January 1st, please so I can store the Christmas “holiday” away until whatever month it will be started in the next year.

    • I understand what you mean, sometimes it can be overwhelming, if everyone starts talking and decorating for Christmas that early,, you kind of get excited very early and loose all your interest and magic until Christmastime actually arrives, and it’s really sad!
in Armenia it’s quite different,, even though some shops start decorating and selling Christmas stuff since November, most of the festivities start happening quite late (we don’t even have our city tree light up or the Christmas market started yet). So, it’s easier to feel jolly and festive around this time,, but I hope you’ll still have fun in this season as much as you can, trying to enjoy the not-materialistic side of Christmas ✨

  2. I like all this tinsel not only because they create a Christmas atmosphere, but also give at least a little shine to the grayness and hide the “ugliness” of cities and the gloominess of people😊 Good post and fotos❤

  4. There is so much joy and festivity in your photos! Thank you for sharing them! I have always enjoyed Christmas for the opportunity the holiday gives to spend time with family and friends, but only in the past two or three years have I let myself experience the joy that comes with the decorations and brightness!
