Hello, November: BuJo Theme 🍂

Here comes November, my second favorite month of the year, which, ironically, I used to despise for the majority of my life. Only in the recent years I came to realize how beautiful this month is.

Since the climate in Armenia is quite warm, you feel the first real autumnal cold only in November, which means that it’s time for my favorite sweater weather. The days gets even darker and shorter, making you appreciate the light and feel cozy in the evening time, litting up all the candles and turning the twinkle lights on and enjoying a warm drink after some time spending outside.

The nature doesn’t disappoint as well, as it gets much more colorful, if that’s even possible. There are lots of “late bloomers” among the trees in here, who get to show off their lush tones only in November. Since we usually get a lot of rainy and foggy days, the colors of the leaves seem even brighter and more saturated compared to the grey sky.

Somehow November feels like the month of baking, cozy gatherings, warm blankets and slowing down. It’s also the time of Thanksgiving, which I really like, despite its quite controversial history and roots and the fact that we don’t celebrate it in my country. I still like to have at least one special day, being extra thankful and expressing gratitude both to my close people and God. And, of course, rewatching all the Thanksgiving episodes of “Friends”, which has already become a tradition.

If the theme for October bullet journal was quite colorful and magical, in November it gets a little more chill and dark, though still in warm colors, symbolizing the nature outside.

I decided to try something new and added coffee stain rings to the pages, because, even though I’m a 100% tea person, I do love me some sweet-smelling coffee, which warms up both my body and soul on a gloomy day and fills the room with its aroma.

The “Count of Monte Cristo” doesn’t really have anything to do with the last autumn month, but it just went so well with the whole theme that I decided to add it as well, especially since I really liked that book. And I made a little corner of autumn wardrobe, as I really love the fashion of this month.

And, since it’s become a tradition, I’ll end this post with a few November quotes that I like.

  • “It was November–the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea, passionate wind-songs in the pines. Anne roamed through the pineland alleys in the park and, as she said, let that great sweeping wind blow the fogs out of her soul.” (L.M. Montgomery)
  • “But there is always a November space after the leaves have fallen when she felt it was almost indecent to intrude on the woods…for their glory terrestrial had departed and their glory celestial of spirit and purity and whiteness had not yet come upon them.” (L.M. Montgomery)
  • October extinguished itself in a rush of howling winds and driving rain and November arrived, cold as frozen iron, with hard frosts every morning and icy drafts that bit at exposed hands and faces.” (J.K. Rowling)
  • “The house was very quiet, and the fog—we are in November now—pressed against the windows like an excluded ghost.” (E.M. Forster)
  • “They read the long afternoon through, while the cold November rain fell from the sky upon the quiet house.” (Ray Bradbury)
  • “In November, the smell of food is different. It is an orange smell. A squash and pumpkin smell. It tastes like cinnamon and can fill up a house in the morning, can pull everyone from bed in a fog. Food is better in November than any other time of the year.” (Cynthia Rylant)

  1. It sounds like November in Armenia 🇦🇲 is like October in the Canadian Prairie provinces.

November here is full of wind and snow ❄️ and frost.

The leaves have gone and there is a chill in the air like the approach of the Snow ❄️ Queen in Narnia.

I love the artistic effect the coffee ☕️ ring stains make in the book and the cover of that book The Count of Monte Cristo does add to the effect.

  2. November is a busy month here in America. Election day is this month. Local, state and federal elections can take place this month if scheduled. Veterans day and of course Thanksgiving are major holidays. Daylight Saving ends. Black Friday and Cyber Monday are big sales days. Where I live, trees are just starting to turn. Even though we may have very warm temperatures, it doesn’t feel quite as hot as summertime temperatures because the sun is so low in the southern sky. It can also be a magical time for taking photos because of the light. We usually get high winds during this time of the year which increases our fire danger because everything is very dry and crazy people set fires knowing the winds are here.
