Each Unhappy Family is Unhappy in its Own Way ❤️‍🩹

A famous quote from “Anna Karenina” states: “all happy families are alike: each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way”.

Recently, as I’ve been coming across a lot of families with their own problems and drama, I realized, that this quote is indeed true. You can’t find a completely happy person, cause each of them has their own demons to fight. We all try to pretend that our lives are relatively normal or perfect, but the reality states otherwise.

As I got to spend time with different groups of people in the past few weeks, I saw how each person is dealing with their own stuff. Sometimes you’ll see a family or a couple and think that they’re literally goals, and then you find out the truth. Which brought me to two thoughts: one – never idolize anyone and never compare yourself with people, thinking that you’re the messed up one, because in reality, everyone is.

And second, that made me wonder. If we’re all familiar with problems, sadness, unhappiness, why aren’t we more compassionate and kind-hearted to one another? Because, for instance, if I have a problem that’s been ruining my life, wouldn’t I have to feel more sympathetic to someone else, whose life is also getting ruined? But sadly, most people lack empathy.

Yes, every person’s problems are different: one is trying to cope with depression, the other has been betrayed and has a broken heart, the next one is dealing with financial difficulties, the other has health problems. The difficulties that we’re facing are all one of a kind, and it’s so stupid, when people think that their problem is more problematic or more complicated than other people’s. That’s why they think that everyone should treat them with kindness, while they can play the victim. While in reality we’re all the victims.

Life is difficult, it has lots of problems (sorry for using this word too much), but I guess that’s the beauty of it. Because without the negative side we would never appreciate the positive one. Who am I kidding, some people never appreciate the good things even now, when they know how hard can it be.

So the point of this regular “pointless post” is that all people should be kinder, more tolerant, more understanding and accepting of one another, because we’re all dealing with some shit, even if you can’t see it. I think that’s when the world will turn into a better place, if people were more supportive and humane to each other.

  1. You are right, if people at least thought that there is no person on this earth without problems, suffering, that everyone experiences physical and mental pain, then they would realize that there is no need to conflict, fight, kill each other because of imposed nonsense👍

  2. Thank you for considering this issue and expressing your views.
Of course, childhood, adolescence, and youth are more selfish than maturity. It is after growing up that people often come to realize the need for sympathy, tolerance, empathy, a humane attitude towards the world around them, and tolerance. But in this matter, as always in life, a balance of acceptance and non-acceptance, sympathy and selfishness, helping others and realizing one’s own goals is necessary. Only in the harmony of these opposites can a person develop and improve himself, move forward, and not stand still.

    Have a good day!

    • thanks a lot! that’s true in a way, because some people understand how wrong they used to live only when they become older and try to become better,, but still lots of people don’t realize it even then and never learn compassion and love

      • Agree. Some people never find the right balance between understanding and helping others and being selfish. But it seems to me that almost everyone understands this as they get older, but they can’t live like that, it doesn’t work out for them, just like many other things in life may not work out – their own interests always prevail, and they can’t do anything about it.
By the way, the ability to forgive people for their mistakes begins with the ability to forgive oneself for one’s own mistakes, no matter how strange it may seem. Accepting others begins with accepting yourself.

  3. Your “pointless posts” always have a spot-on point! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. We all need a reminder once in a while that we are all in life together even when we experience so much of it alone. It’s always important to connect and realize that our life’s journey, unique to each person, is also similar in many ways. May that awareness give us strength to keep on going in good and bad times.
Always look forward to your posts.

    • thanks so much! your words are really beautiful! the last time I felt some kind of unity among all people was in 2020 around the first lockdown, when we actually felt like we’re all in this together, even when each of us was locked in their houses,, sadly after that the humankind seemed to become separated even more 😕

      • If only the rare moments of unity could linger and sustain us in memory a bit longer. I think that’s the best we can hope for. And hope for future moments of unity among people, for surely they will come again.

      • you’re right. sadly we get a little united when things get really really bad, and when everything’s good, we forget about everything that we felt before
