Trick or Treat 🎃

‘This is Halloween, this is Halloween Pumpkins scream in the dead of night…’

If you know from where is this lyrics, I love you already ❤️

It’s almost Halloween, one of my favorite holidays. I know it’s a little early for this, but I’m in Halloween mood for about 2 weeks or even more. I try to ignore the fact, that I live in a country, where most people don’t celebrate or don’t even know about this day, that some shops are already selling Christmas stuff, and that some people even think of Halloween as a “omg, we’re Christians, we don’t celebrate it, it is a devil’s holiday”. I really hate when people talk bullshit about anything, not only this day, without knowing anything about it. And if there are such people who are reading this right now and who hate Halloween for nothing, here’s some information about this “devil’s day”.

It is widely believed that many Halloween traditions originated from Celtic harvest festivals and that this festival was Christianized as Halloween. Some academics, however, support the view that Halloween began independently as a solely Christian holiday. In many parts of the world, the Christian religious observances of All Hallows’ Eve, includes attending church services and lighting candles on the graves of the dead.

I don’t want to write what is Halloween, how it started, what roots it has, because for me it is just a fun but also a mystical day. It’s like Christmas, but a creepy one, with pumpkins instead of Christmas trees. It all begins with the preparation, finding and carving the perfect pumpkin, creating your costume, baking some treats, watching movies, and having a party, even a little one ( I’m singing ‘A little party never killed nobody’ in my head right now 🎶 )

But also this is the time of scary stories, mystery and magic, if you believe in this kind of stuff. As I believe that the world is not only this materialistic one, that there are parallel universes and power that is way stronger than anything else, this is the perfect day for me. Burning some candles, divination, meditation are great essentials for Halloween. As well as ghosts, black cats, witches and Jack o’ Lantern 🎃

If you like Halloween, but don’t feel its spirit, here are some movies that can give you Halloween mood 👻

  1. Halloweentown
  2. Twitches
  3. Hocus Pocus
  4. Casper
  5. The Good Witch
  6. The Nightmare Before Christmas (although I am not quite sure, whether I should watch this for Halloween or Christmas )

And at last, don’t take everything so seriously, find something that can give you good mood, think of everything positively. You can hate Halloween and have a dull day as the others, or you can start loving it and celebrate and have one more special day in a year. We all have choices, what’s important is whether we make the right ones. Happy Halloween ! 🎃👻
