Inspiring Songs for When You Need a Motivational Boost 🎧

Kurt Cobain once said: “You can survive everything, if you pick the right song”. I can’t say that I agree with this quote for 100%, but it has a portion of truth. Because everything that we watch, read and listen to has a big influence on us, our mood, mental and even physical wellbeing. We don’t always understand or agree with it, thinking that media can’t affect us, that a horror movie doesn’t scare us, that a sad song won’t make us depressed… One single song, movie or book probably won’t make a big change, but believe me, if you keep listening to sad melodies, for instance, you’ll notice how you become more and more melancholic. And vise versa, you can’t feel gloomy when you’re listening to upbeat and fun songs, because you’ll automatically want to move, dance or sing with it. You have probably met people in your life, who only watch and read heavy dramas and are always depressed. I’m not saying that media is the source of depression or bad mood, but it’s a big and effective fuel that can affect either positively or negatively.

That’s why we need to choose what we absorb on a daily basis very wisely. For today’s post, I decided to share some of the songs that are really inspiring and motivating and will help you get out of a bad or swampy mood. I’ll also advise to read the lyrics while you’re listening to the song, because we often don’t concentrate on the message that it has, even if we understand all the words perfectly well. You can even lipsync or sing aloud with them, and you’ll definitely feel so much jollier, lighter, ready to take over the world.

  1. An inspiring song would be Andy Williams singing The Impossible Dream (aka The Quest) that was also the theme song of the Broadway musical (about Don Quixote) Man of La Mancha.

  2. Excellent selection! 👍
The song “Rise and Sing” really uplifts my mood. This song was written by Gennady Gladkov for the musical performance “Awake and Sing” based on the play of the same name by the Hungarian playwright Miklós Dyarfaš. The title of the song to the verses of the poet Vladimir Lugovoi repeated the title of the performance. And her aunt Tonya, the heroine of the audience’s favorite Tatyana Peltzer, sang. The play premiered in 1970.

  3. Wise words, my European friend! “Garbage in, garbage out!” This is why Paul gave this advice for mental health: “Whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Philippians 4:8
