Hogwarts Houses Pt. 2 πŸ’™πŸ’š

Welcome to the second part of the most magical project!

Here’s a brief recap of this project, in case you have no idea what I’m talking about. I am making a “Hogwarts Students Aesthetic“, where I try to convey the wonderful atmosphere of each of the Hogwarts houses. The first part was about Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, and you can check out that post in HERE. And now it’s time for the other two houses-Ravenclaw and Slytherin.

Ravenclaw

House Colors – Blue and Bronze

Animal – Eagle

Traits – Intelligence, Creativity, Wisdom, Wit, Leaning, Acceptance

Element – Fire

Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
If you’ve a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind.

Ravenclaw is another, less popular house, since it isn’t mentioned much neither in the books, nor in the movies. Ravenclaws are usually described as the “nerds“, of Hogwarts, because their house represents intellect, wisdom, cleverness and a desire for learning. Even their Common Room’s password is not a code word, but an answer to a logical riddle.

I have never imagined myself being a Ravenclaw, but I can see some similarities from this house too.

For Ravenclaw’s place I picked an old style door of a museum, which strongly reminds me of the door to Room of Requirement. It doesn’t have much to do with Ravenclaw, but the Room itself was in blue colors and mostly appeared in Order of Phoenix, where we get introduced to the most prominent Ravenclaw student- Luna Lovegood. Hence the style inspiration as well.

It does remind the Room of Requirement door, doesn’t it?
The Head of Ravenclaw is Filius Flitwick, the teacher of Charms, that’s why Charms is important for this house. As well as Luna’s Spectrespecs
Reading books and doing homework
a copy of Beetle the Bard, and the house’s badge. and the ring kind of reminds me of Rowena Ravenclaw’s Lost Diadem

Slytherin

House Colors – Green and Silver

Animal – Serpent

Traits – Determination, Pride, Cunning, Ambition, Self-Preservation, Resourcefulness

Element Water

Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends
.

The famous, “evil” house of Hogwarts. Well it’s not actually evil, it’s considered like that, just because there were many dark wizards from this house. People who can be prideful, care about blood (and any other) status, who are ambitious and want to achieve their goals by all means. Slytherins are usually great leaders and tend to gain many followers and be respected.

I never saw any qualities from this house, though the Pottermore quiz once sorted me here. I guess I have some things from each of the house, like determination and a little ambition from this one.

The place choice of this house has quite long and interesting background. When I first watched and read Chamber of Secrets (I was 7-8), it became my favorite part. And around that same time, me and my family had a trip out of town, and visited an old health resort. And I saw this place called “Drinking Gallery“, where you could drink fresh and clear mineral water. It reminded me of Chamber of Secret’s Entrance (aka Moaning Myrtle’s bathroom) so much. I even remember looking very close to the taps, to see if it has snake symbol like the one in the movie. And when I came up with this project, I knew that this is the place I want to do the Slytherin photoshoot. Sadly, it wasn’t working already, all the taps were knocked down and the sinks were full of little stones and sand. But I still managed to create some mysterious atmosphere.

Even though Slytherin is my least favorite house, I think I love the recreation of this house the best. Maybe because it has much more props, or because of the background history and some childhood memories. I don’t know.

Moaning Myrtle’s Bathroom inspiration
Of course I had to take my Advanced Potion Making book, full of dark wizardry and helpful remarks with me
The King of Serpents, the famous monster of Chamber of Secrets
the ring looks like Tom Marvolo’s ring, doesn’t it?
Who wants a sip of Polyjuice Potion?

Sadly that’s it for this magical and mysterious project. I really enjoyed every step of it, preparing the props for each of the house, finding the perfect places, dressing up, doing the photoshoots, editing the photos and writing these posts. It gave me another great possibility, to feel myself a Hogwarts student from all four houses, and feel that fascinating atmosphere once again. Hope you enjoyed these posts as well!
